Hands down, Carine Roitfeld is one the best dressed people in the fashion industry. Her and the entire French Vogue team are known to be the epitome of chic so, who better than her to serve as this week’s inspiration? I set out to see if I could re-create the essence of her outfit in plus sizes for cheap and it was a success!
I paired the long-sleeve lace body suit from Lane Bryant with the tap shorts from Torrid which, depending on your preference, can be worn higher or lower. In this instance higher is better, especially because what makes this outfit so good is the proportions! With a black draped vest from Avenue, the basis of the outfit is complete. Now for the accessories! I first saw these cute Forever21 heels when Gabi from Hungry for Fashion wore them and thought they’d be perfect with this outfit. Both the dangling cross earring and the red wallet are from Forever21 as well.

There has been a lot of talk on the internet this week about the cost of fashion blogging. As someone who doesn’t have steady income, I could relate to some of the points made. So I had this idea to launch a weekly Saturday feature called Cheap & Chic, where cute items/outfits will be highlighted that won’t break the bank! For the very first installment, we have my favorite subject: shoes!
I’m very much so a lover of shoes. I have them stashed everywhere in my house as well as some stashed away at my parent’s house. There is nothing better than scoring a super cute pair for a super low price so I’m always searching for a good bargain. I tend to splurge on my fall/winter shoes and boots so when it comes to Springtime casual flats and such, I try to somewhat stick to a budget.
My current favorite site to buy cheap and chic shoes from is Urban Originals. They have tons of shoes and most, if not all, are under $40! The top lace booties and the bottom left heels are both from Urban Originals and I got them both for under $45 shipped! They carry everything from booties to pumps to wedges to flats, so there’s something for everyone!
The other two pairs were both steals too! The studded cowboy boots were a $25 score from Burlington and the mesh cut-out booties are from Evans and were $35! These were my first pair of heels from Evans and seriously, they are the comfiest pair of heels I own. They have extra padded soles so it really does feel like you’re wearing flats. I randomly decided to run and jump around outside in them to test them out and it was a success! No bruises, scrapes, or blood!
Where do you find your cheap and chic shoes? What is your best cheap and chic shoe purchase? Let me know!
