307 / STYLE 369

If you follow Musings of a Fatshionista on Facebook, you may remember me linking to an article from the Daily Mail that mentioned that Evans would be launching a younger, trendier site later in the year. Well, the time has arrived! The new site is called Style 369 and while it’s not yet fully launched, they have a few items available. Unlike Evans though, Style 369 only carries sizes UK14-26 (which roughly translates to US12-24).

Allegedly, this site is supposed to be Arcadia Group’s answer to the ever-popular ASOS Curve range. It is supposed to basically be the fat girl’s Topshop, or that’s what I’m hoping it will be. While the pickings may be slim right now, I’m pretty sure this line will be a game-changer in the world of plus size fashion. Earlier this month, photos were published of Crystal Renn modeling select pieces from the Evans A/W10 collection as well as items that (I believe) are from the Style 369 line as well. If the pieces from these photos are any indication of what’s to come, I’m truly excited. While many companies have launched so-called trendier lines in the past year or so, this is one that seems like it will actually deliver. There are pieces that you just will not find at any other plus size retailer or department store (the feathered skirt? amazing!).

In addition to carrying some items from Evans’ new high-fashion range and other UK brands, Style 369 will also have an in-house line as well as a collaboration line with Ruby Rocks (who I believe made the jumpsuit you’ll see below, but don’t quote me!). As you can tell, most of the information I have has yet to be confirmed but as soon as I get more concrete info, I’ll pass it on!

255 / DOSE OF FIERCE: ADDITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS

I usually stick to one posting one editorial per week but lately there have been so many amazing editorials featuring plus models that I wanted to do a roundup! There are two editorials which are NSFW, I’ll place those at the bottom of the post with NSFW warnings. Big credit goes to Pippa of Runway Revolution who is always on top of everything plus related in the modeling world (and for IDing the gorgeous swimsuit worn by Tara Lynn)!

Enjoy!

251 / A DOSE OF FIERCE: CRYSTAL RENN IN TUSH MAGAZINE

I have a few favorite models: Gemma, Sessilee, Crystal, Lara, and Tara Lynn. They round out my top five at the moment (while its true Gemma no longer models, she’ll always be one of my faves!). Put them in any outfit, in any situation, and they can SELL it to you. That’s what I look for in models, the ability to sell me on the most impossible, impractical thing and make me think its something that I NEED.

Enter Crystal’s latest editorial for Tush Magazine. I don’t even wear denim and I’m seriously thinking of ways to attempt this new version of denim on denim. It’s that good.

Oh and ps. She’ll be walking in the Chanel Resort show tonight. How crazy is that? Uncle Karl is using a plus model!

235 / TORRID PRESENTS Z. CAVARICCI COUTURE

Photobucket

I was slightly let down when I heard that Torrid was going to stop carrying Z. Cavaricci as they are the brand behind my favorite pair of jeans. However, while browsing one of my new favorite blogs Chubble Bubble, I came across these images from a new lookbook for Torrid that features blog favorite, Crystal Renn. I don’t love everything but there are two pieces that I’m thinking of adding to my closet — the black moto dress and the grey acidwash studded skinny jeans. Being as though I love the “Jessie” jeans so much, I’m thinking of giving these a go as well. I’m not too sure about how the other items from the line fit, but I’ve always found that in jeans, I’ve had to go up one size. The entire line is on Torrid’s site, which you can view here. What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

169 / FIRST LOOK: V MAGAZINE’S (PLUS) SIZE ISSUE

You may have recently heard that V Magazine is devoting its January 2010 issue to plus size models. After Glamour’s promise to promote body diversity in it’s pages and the new ‘Big Girl in a Skinny World’ monthly column, Mark Fast’s use of plus models in his Spring 2010 runway show and many other things, it seems as though maybe, just maybe, the fashion world is starting to take notice. With the average size of American women being size 14, consumers have spoken out against unrealistic beauty standards set forth by the glossy pages of fashion mags. While only time will tell if Glamour’s new pledge will jumpstart a similar movement in other publications, V Magazine has joined in.

Today, images from the Terry Richardson editorial ‘One Size Fits All’ popped up on the internet. The spread showcases models Jacquelyn Jablonski and Crystal Renn styled and posed in an identical manner and absolutely trashes the notion that clothing looks better on thinner bodies. Crystal is definitely holding her own and much like my girl @huny said on twitter – “Plus size model Crystal Renn makes this skinny model look downright boring” – I couldn’t agree more.

I’m actually really excited for this issue to hit newsstands because V Magazine always has amazing photography and editorials. Always. I’m sure this issue will be no different.

165 / EDITORIAL: CRYSTAL RENN ‘FANTASY LAND’ ELLE CANADA JAN 2010

Are you guys ready to kill me yet? I’ve been totally SWAMPED and not able to update much in the past week and a half. In order to get back into the swing of things, here’s Crystal Renn featured in an 18-page editorial in Elle Canada January 2010 issue. Most know, I love me some Crystal and these pictures exemplify why. She is simply stunning. A lot of people may complain about her “overexposure” but I don’t think they’re realizing some of the doors that she’s helping to further break down. She’s cementing herself as not only a plus supermodel but a supermodel period.

141 / CRYSTAL RENN MODELS EVANS NEW COLLECTION

This weekend I received an email from one of my UK readers alerting me to Evan’s upcoming collection modeled by Crystal Renn. I’m always excited to see what Evans will do next since this year they have truly become my go-to store. They have fulfilled my need of sequined and studded goodness!

The Daily Mail posted some images in which Crystal is styled from head-to-toe in pieces from Evan’s new collection. Said to be hitting stores and online around Christmastime, this collection preview is telling me that I need to save up some serious money! Of course my favorite piece is the purple velvet dress! I loved that it was paired with the sequin belt and a red lip! I’m also digging the Chanel-like jacket and black cropped blazer.

Crystal was also featured in a ‘Celebs on Sunday’ spread back in September and was also styled in Evans clothes. In the article she talks about being a plus model in the industry and gives some tips on how to dress a curvier figure. You can read the article (pdf from) here.

My only question is when are those boots in the first image being released? They are so amazing! Evans is trying to kill my bank account this holiday season. What do you guys think about the collection previews?
