383 / ootd: zig-a-zig-ahhh

(Hopefully everyone got and appreciated the Spice Girls reference that is the title of the post.)

I usually don’t update during the week but I really liked this outfit so I snapped a quick photo after I got home from work. Both the long sleeve printed dress and the racerback black dress over it are from ASOS (size uk18). I put my faux leather vest from Forever21 over it and wore the metallic blue skinny belt from ASOS Curve.

Sidenote: I have such shitty lighting in my apartment so that’s why it’s in black and white.

Also since we last chatted, I got a few new tattoos!

black dress, printed dress, belt – asos
vest – forever21
tights – avenue
pin – indiegoespop
wedges (not shown) – juicy couture

379 / ootd: black, red + sheer

As usual, I went out for brunch today and used the opportunity to wear my black and red vinyl bra that I scored this past summer on eBay. I layered it under the sheer mesh dress from Hips & Curves and a sheer high waist skirt from Jibri. This outfit combines my love of sheer everything and vinyl anything, which is why fall/winter is my favorite time of the year.

377 / ootd: sunday brunchin

Sundays are usually reserved for sleeping in, doing laundry and cleaning but lately I’ve been heading out to have brunch at this nice little spot a block or so from my apartment. Because it snowed a bit late last week, there’s a lot of slush left on the ground but I really couldn’t be bothered to wear weather-appropriate boots this morning. I decided to break in this two-tone faux fur jacket from ASOS Curve and pair it with a lace button-up that I got from Forever21+. The skirt is one that I’ve had forever as it was a thrift score from a few years back. Ripped sheer tights from Avenue and my black glitter wedges complete the ensemble.

373 / ootd: sequins + pvc

The amount of time left to wear this super short pvc skirt is dwindling the more the temperature drops and wind picks up. I figured I’d take it out for a spin while crawling some bars this past week. It was a texture explosion as I paired it with this leather-like top from forever21+ (which you’ll be seeing in the next post as well) and sequined blazer from yours. Because there’s so much leg on display (and because I knew there was a good chance I’d be drunk), I opted for my creepers instead of any sort of wedge/heel.

372 /ootd: SHEERED

A couple weeks ago I went back to DC to gather the rest of my clothes to ship here to Chicago and one of the most exciting things there was this floor length sheer stripe skirt I got from Jibri. I originally ordered it back in May and literally the next week, I came to Chicago (and we all know that story) so basically I finally got my hands on it 5 months later. Again, the wintertime was not going to deter me from wearing this skirt out around the city. I threw on some semi-sheer tights and called it a day. I’m not one to pair shorts under a sheer skirt, it just looks weird. I also paired it with this leatherette top from Forever21+ to add some toughness to the skirt. Simple and chic~

I think I’ve stated on more than one occasion that I’m not much of a fan of Torrid or Forever21+. However, the one thing that keeps me going back to Torrid is the fact that they carry the Tripp skinny jeans. When this version with the faux-leather patches went online, I knew I had to order them. This red leather jacket from F21+ is the only item I’ve ever purchased from them that I really really loved. The jacket is actually really heavy and doesn’t feel flimsy/cheap which is always a concern when shopping there. It’s definitely the best thing they’ve ever offered.

In my previous vlogs, I professed my love for PVC. It’s one the main reasons why I love fall so so much. I scored this super short full skirt on eBay for about $15 and I was really excited that it’s finally cold enough to wear it. When I say it’s short, I mean no-deep-breaths short which basically means that it was made for me. I picked up this flamingo printed button-up from the ASOS main range and thought it’d make a perfect pair with the skirt. The wedges are some that I picked up from Ami Clubwear and they’re perfect.

There’s been some slight changes since my last update but the gist of it is this: new city, new job, new home, same color palette. Although Chicago’s humidity seems to be unrelenting, some things never change, my love of black clothing. I did a bit of online shopping last week since the only clothes that I brought with me were sheer, cropped or bodycon (or my fave – all three) and not quite work appropriate. I bought this ballerina dress from Forever21+ and I’m sure I’ll be wearing it quite often this summer. It’s knit with a tulle overlay and was perfectly toughened up with my trusty Evans biker vest (now amazingly accessorized with a few pins from indiegoespop). The sunglasses I found on ebay and they were only $3, so now I can finally stop obsessing over round lenses.

Since Brittney took these photos and they aren’t completely horrible, I’ll probably start posting outfits more often (or as often as I can).

As I previously mentioned, I’m all about fat girls in crop tops this Summer. I picked up this top in the mid-season sale at ASOS (it’s from the main range, size UK18/US14) and it’s pretty much perfection. Since the wind was blowing a bit today, I layered it over my lace bodysuit from Evans to keep things covered a bit. This red pleated skirt was another eBay score, it was only $5 and it serves as one of the few colorful items in my closet.

These platform mary-janes from Forever21 are the most uncomfortable pair of heels I own. I’m not sure if it’s because of the arch or the actual height of the heel (5 inches) but they are only for those outings where I won’t be standing for long periods of time. It sucks because they are super cute but really unbearable after a few hours.
